Hai my school term just started, been on the ball with keeping up with my weekly readings (and trying to read the next week's), attempted twice (or thrice, i'm not sure) to buy my textbooks but gave up after seeing the sea of people at the bookshop.
So anyway, i decided to browse through manga a while ago. "the collapse of the world as we know it" is still as random, it doesn't have a storyplot. Hell it doesn't even have a plot, not even an event. All it has is a sequence of pictures that lead to the last frame with no meaning.. that random.
Well my point wasn't that manga anyway... As mentioned in the title, i read Tripeace.. The first few chapters were cheesy, especially the first chapter- Amnesia again? argurerghagrvbc if the main character had FULL amnesia (or such a thing) then how can he know that has amnesia? More specifically, how can he know that he had forgotten something? Or at the very least, he shouldn't even know the word amnesia. He knows the word amnesia but not the quantitative words like "billion"? Really??! If we go according to brain function, he should be either fully capable or incapable of speech. There's no loss of half of your vocabulary or some crap. Then again, we apply the golden rule of Manga-"anything can happen" and i get pwnt hard. Who cares about the logic of the nitty gritty details (ok, NOT so nitty gritty- it was practically the background introduction of the character), shoddy first chapter full of plotholes and cheese?
I digressed. Tolerate the first few chapters, keep your mind open (well it's evident mine wasn't that open) and the following chapters will become better. I generally like mangas that show how the characters train up from weaklings to becoming super strong and stuff, but i don't really like sports manga. Contradicting lolz.
Still, Tripeace seems like it has alot of potential- I've only read till chapter 7. There's so many ways it could go right, so many ways it could fail.. isn't it exciting? :D
P.S.: Upon reflection, I liked Kurohime's storyplot! Gantz story was good through 4/5 of the whole story. If you read the later chapters, i personally think that it was crap- it was way out of this world, literally.
So.. yeah. Go read Tripeace! Endure the first few chapters!
